GOOD TO KNOW

The name Beychevelle comes from the Gascon “bêcha vêla” (lower the sails). Ships sailing up the Gironde would lower their sails in homage to the Duc d’Épernon, the estate’s 16th-century owner. This maritime legend continues to inspire the château’s iconic label.
