APPELLATION : SAINT-EMILION
Troplong Mondot sits at the highest point in Saint-Émilion, its elevated position far more than a scenic advantage: this particular hillside, with its unique soils and orientations, is the signature of every Troplong Mondot wine. Across the appellation, the Agenais molasse clays have been eroded away, except here, where they still overlay the typical astéries limestone of Saint-Émilion in great depths, a geological rarity that is a major contributor to the estate’s singular terroir. Beyond its wines, Troplong Mondot brings together fine dining, luxury accommodation and vineyard visits in one unique destination perched above the village.
GOOD TO KNOW
The boundaries of Troplong Mondot’s vineyard are virtually unchanged from its founding in 1700. Its 37 hectares spread around the hill enjoy a 360° panoramic exposure, with altitude variations from 60 to 110 metres that multiply the different expressions of Merlot.
