APPELLATION : SAINT-EMILION
Cheval Blanc’s philosophy is simple and radical: to put a place in a glass. Every vintage is understood as a faithful portrait of its terroir and its year. Never a stylistic exercise, never a concession to trend. The 39-hectare vineyard, virtually unchanged since 1871, sits on a remarkable geological mosaic of gravel, clay and sand at the boundary of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Each of its 45 parcels is individually studied and vinified to preserve the singular character of each plot before the final blend is composed. Style and place remain timeless here. The true authors of Cheval Blanc are the soil, the sun and the rain.
GOOD TO KNOW
Cheval Blanc’s cellar, an architectural masterpiece by Christian de Portzamparc inaugurated in 2012, is certified High Environmental Quality (HQE). The vineyard has been managed agroecologically for years: no herbicides have ever been used, and 3,000 trees have been planted.
