Château Beau-Séjour Bécot

APPELLATION : SAINT-EMILION

Located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Martin de Mazerat, immediately to the west of the magical city of Saint-Émilion, Beau-Séjour Bécot lies at the heart of the appellation. Since Gallo-Roman times, this site has been devoted to winemaking. In 1969, Michel Bécot acquired the estate and expanded it to 18.50 ha through the purchase of adjacent parcels on the same terroir. He converted seven hectares of ancient limestone quarries beneath the vineyard into ideal conditions to store tens of thousands of bottles. His two sons Gérard and Dominique have since introduced numerous technical innovations in the cellar and vineyard, selecting only the finest grapes, hand-harvested and sorted berry by berry.

GOOD TO KNOW

The name “Beau-Séjour” was bestowed in 1787 by General Jacques de Carles, in memory of the joyful moments he experienced there. In 1986, the château was stripped of its Premier Grand Cru Classé status after a parcel merger without INAO approval, only to be reinstated in 1996, a testament to the family’s tenacity.
