Château Grand-Puy Ducasse

APPELLATION : PAUILLAC

It all began when Arnaud Ducasse acquired a “modest” house on the banks of the river at Pauillac in 1675. Pierre Ducasse, a lawyer passionate about wine, then considerably extended the land across three parishes (Pauillac, Saint-Lambert and Saint-Sauveur) as well as three lordships: Lafite, Latour and Beychevelle. In 1820, his son built the current château and attached the technical facilities facing the Gironde estuary. A bold decision at the time that has made Grand-Puy Ducasse the only château vinifying its wines on this quayside for 200 years. Its fragmented vineyard across 11 different soil types makes it one of the most representative of the diversity of Pauillac’s terroirs.

GOOD TO KNOW

Grand Puy Ducasse is the only Pauillac classified growth whose château, fermentation cellar and barrel cellar stand not in the vineyards but on the village quayside facing the Gironde. In July 2024, the Renaissance project opened the historic reception rooms and a panoramic estuary view to the public for the very first time. The vineyard spans 60 parcels across 11 different soil types.
