Château Duhart Milon

APPELLATION : PAUILLAC

Château Duhart-Milon is a neighbour of Château Lafite Rothschild, acquired in 1962 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild. Oral tradition presents “Sieur Duhart” as a privateer under Louis XV who retired to Pauillac, whose house on the port inspired the wine’s label. The 76-hectare vineyard, almost in a single block on the Milon hillside, extends the Carruades de Lafite plateau. Its sandy gravel soils over limestone subsoil give the wines a fresh, precise structure, typically Pauillac in style, but with the cool expression and finesse that characterises the Lafite family.

GOOD TO KNOW

Duhart-Milon is the only 4th Classified Growth in the Pauillac appellation. It is also one of the rare estates with no actual château: only vat rooms, barrel cellars and vineyards make up the property. The barrels are made in the cooperage shared with Lafite Rothschild. During Lafite’s ongoing renovation (until 2026), visits are redirected here.
