WHY WE LIKE IT
In a village that is hardly short of cellars and wine establishments, Sous La Robe has carved out its place through a different approach: that of a contemporary wine lounge where design, music and atmosphere matter as much as the list. Charles and Dany, both wine professionals, speak fluent French, English and Spanish, a rare quality in Saint-Emilion, where the audience is decidedly international. The terrace, north-facing, stays cool even during the scorching Bordeaux summers. The tapas go beyond the usual, the champagne selection is thoughtfully curated, and the bar stays open late, until 2am on weekends, long after the rest of the village has gone to sleep.
