APPELLATION : SAINT-EMILION
Perched on the Saint-Émilion plateau, Château de Pressac has overlooked the valley for more than six centuries. Cited in the pages of French history, its name was given to a grape variety. Here, vine and time are inseparably linked. The terroir encompasses three soil types: limestone plateau, clay-limestone hillsides and the typical foot-of-slope soils of the Saint-Émilion appellation. The estate spans 42 hectares, of which 36 are planted with vines, commanding views over the Dordogne valley.
GOOD TO KNOW
The Pressac grape variety, the local name for Malbec in the Gironde, takes its name directly from this château. The estate has reintroduced genuine Malbec and Carménère, rare varieties at Saint-Émilion, and practises horse-drawn viticulture, reviving traditional farming methods.
