Château Grand Barrail

CLASSIFICATION: ★★★★★

Grand Barrail is one of the finest stories in vineyard hospitality: built in 1902 by René Bouchart as a gift for his future wife on the site of an 18th-century Bordeaux manor, it became in 2019 the property of CHG Participations, which entrusted the renovation to architect Jean-Philippe Nuel. The 46 rooms and suites, spread between the château and its outbuildings, feature original wood panelling, canopy beds and designer furniture by makers such as Pierre Frey. The newly opened Sothys spa (4 treatment rooms, hammam, sauna, terrace jacuzzi) and chef Quentin Merlet’s restaurant, creative South-West cuisine paired with Grands Crus, make this the definitive luxury address in Saint-Émilion.
