Château Haut-Bailly

APPELLATION : PESSAC-LEOGNAN

At the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Haut-Bailly benefits from an ideal topography. Its vineyard stretches across soils of gravel, sand and clay, with gentle slopes ensuring excellent drainage. The subsoil is composed of faluns and marine sediments that give the wines a particular freshness. At the heart of the estate, beneath the château windows, lies one of Haut-Bailly’s most precious jewels: a parcel of century-old vines that give the wines their timeless soul and consistency. Plot-by-plot vinification allows for optimal precision in the winemaking and blending, revealing the character of each micro-parcel of the vineyard.

GOOD TO KNOW

Haut-Bailly is the only Classified Growth of Pessac-Léognan to produce exclusively red wines (no whites). Its second wine, Haut-Bailly II, is among Bordeaux’s earliest second wines, launched as early as 1967. The estate is home to 4 hectares of vines over 100 years old, a unique ampelographic heritage in the appellation.
