Château Lafite Rothschild

APPELLATION : PAUILLAC

When Baron James de Rothschild acquired Lafite in 1868, the château, its terroir and its wines already had a history. First known as a wine producer in the 13th century, the estate was named Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Over the years, which soon became decades, then centuries, Baron James’s children, and their children in turn, steered the estate through turbulence and achievement. “From the phylloxera crisis to the Great Depression, through peace and war, Lafite has continued to tell the story of each year, in vintages that bear their inimitable witness to the nature of the world.” – Baron James de Rothschild
