Château d’Yquem

APPELLATION : SAUTERNES

“An exquisite nobility that goes down inside like light. Because Yquem is also light. Light in drinkable form.” – Frédéric Dard. History records the first vines on the gravel hills of what would become Yquem back in the 1st century. The estate as we know it was shaped by the Sauvage family from 1593 and the de Lur Saluces dynasty, before LVMH acquired it in 1996.

GOOD TO KNOW

Yquem is the only wine in the world classified as Premier Cru Supérieur, a category created for it alone in 1855. Each vine produces only one glass of wine. Ageing lasts 3 to 3.5 years in 100% new French oak barrels. In certain challenging years, no wine is produced at all. Yquem prefers silence over compromise.
